In keeping with the spirit of supporting the African Bush Camps Foundation from within, another special partnership has been with Tammy van der Heever.
Following her passion for Wildlife, Tammy and her husband joined the Kanga Team as managers in 2013. They had a wonderful season here with their great team of staff and then when their family started to increase they moved back to Bulawayo and Tammy joined the African Bush Camps Foundation family.
In Tammy’s words,
‘Being on the ground and going into the communities that ABCF has partnered with ignited a fire within myself to work with and support rural communities to brighten their future, better their surroundings and all with the big picture of Wildlife Conservation through Education, Community Empowerment, and Community Infrastructure.
My favourite times were with the children of the communities and their big beautiful smiles, hearty laughter and shine of hope in their eyes.’
In 2015 Tammy and her little family moved across the world to Australia to see what new adventures lay there. Not wanting to let go completely of her connection to African Bush Camps Foundation and luckily with technology as it is she has been able to stay a part of the Foundation in doing the Website Management and Social media posts, she also supports Shylet Dube who is in Grade 1 at Mambanje, in the form of school fees each year and is looking for more sponsors through her new friends and colleagues in Australia.
‘I can’t wait to go back to the communities when I travel back to Zimbabwe in a few years time and see Shylet and the other children of Mambanje and Hwange Main Camp!
