In 2015 we embarked on several field trips to visit projects and communities who experience similar challenges to the communities we work with.
This was a huge success and we would like to further link Mambanje Community members with people and groups from other communities that are successfully implementing various community development initiatives. Learning’s from the various trips which will vary from day trips to three day trips will include issues on conservation, sustainable agriculture methods in wildlife conflict areas and income generation.
|Muonde Trust – Zvishavane, Zimbabwe||To learn more about live and dry wall fencing, sustainable water, land management for agriculture, dealing with new types of pollution and improved architecture.||$750|
|Africa Centre for Holistic Management – Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe||Learning will include methods to restore water catchments and river flow through planned grazing, to increase forage, wildlife, and livestock production through holistic planned grazing, promote predator-friendly livestock production, utilizing herding teams and lion-proof kraals, the use of concentrated animal impact to increase crop yields, restore degraded pieces of land and to create firebreaks.||$3,500|
|Project Luangwa – Mfuwe, Zambia||Learningswill include sustainable community led development, using technology to enhance education, conservation, and promoting gender balance.||$2,000|
|Lupane Women’s Project – Lupane, Zimbabwe||Income generating projects using locally available raw materials.||$300|
|Direct Impact Africa – Zambezi Valley, Zambia||Organic farming, solar powered irrigation, schools support initiatives, and coop income generating projects||$2,000|
|AWIDE (AFRICAN Women’s Initiative In Developing Economies) – Bulawayo, Zimbabwe||Manufacturing using indigenous products such as marula nuts, different types of fruits to make jam, nuts, etc.||$300|
