The African Bush Camps Foundation has seen their partnership with Parakarungu Primary School grow from strength to strength over the past year. Parakarungu is the remotest village of the five Chobe Enclave villages situated in Botswana and is the closest community to African Bush Camps’s property Linyanti Bush Camp.
For the second year, we sponsored their annual Prize Giving Day where the top performing students were being recognized for their academic performance over the past year. The theme of the day was “Educational Achievement: A Responsibility of All”.
The day started with the singing of the Botswana National anthem and a Prayer. Some students then provided entertainment by reading out Poems that they had created and the guest speaker said a few words before the Manager of Linyanti Bush Camp, Mr Wina Tabona spoke as the representative of African Bush Camps Foundation. The students did a wonderful job in entertaining all in attendance with their drama and after all the Prizes and presentations were handed out the Grade 7 students sang a farewell song to their peers and teachers as they take the next step along the educational ladder and leave primary school for secondary school. A hearty lunch was enjoyed by all once the final prayer was delivered.
It was a great event which brought the community together to celebrate education and inspire the school children to strive for excellence in their studies.
Thank you to the teachers and staff of Parakarungu who work towards developing the children’s minds and giving them an education to use as a stepping stone to succeed in the future.
