Home > Comunity Infrastructure > Passing on Skills to Young Ladies

In June this year The African Bush Camps Foundation partnered up with Family Impact and we went to Mambanje to do Sanitary Pad making with the women of the Mambanje Community.

The Sanitary Pad making course not only gives women and girls access to Sanitary pads, it also leads to improved dignity and self-worth, knowledge of reproductive health issues such as cervical cancer, following the training in June the ladies have said that they feel empowered through the knowledge that they learned and that their confidence in themselves has increased greatly.

With the left over material for the Sanitary Pads, the community got together and did a follow up exercise for the older female students of Mambanje Primary School and for the women who had missed the Family Impact visit. By doing this they are passing on the skills to make every woman more comfortable and protected when needed, we hope these skills will continue to be passed on to all women of the Village and to the young ladies as they reach maturity.
