African Bush Camps Foundation has partnered with The Precious Life Foundation
Young women from Vulnerable backgrounds do a three month theory in hospitality and then a six month industry placement within Zimbabwe. Since 2012 every year African Bush Camps has taken two young women into their camps in Hwange and Mana Pools, Somalisa and Kanga Camp respectively.
In 2012 we had a young lady by the name of Tracey Mutemi travel to Mana Pools National Park and join the Kanga Team. She was a great asset to have in the camp and enjoyed working in all the departments.
A particular favorite of hers was the Food & Beverage department and the camp staff would often find her cooking and baking in the Kitchen under the supervision of the Chefs. When asked what her favorite experiences at Kanga were, she responded;
“I love to do the baking and have enjoyed learning about everything in the Kitchen. I have also enjoyed learning to work with other people and forming a team of friends amongst my colleagues”
Since finishing her Industry Placement, Tracey has returned to Bulawayo and is running her own baking/catering business. She bakes goods for restaurants, special events like Valentines Day and she also caters meals. She is a great success and she will continue to do well.
We have another four young ladies joining us this year and we wish them all the very best during their time with us.
