In July we visited the remote village of Parakarungu. The African Bush Camps Foundation has partnered with this community and we are working towards assisting the Parakarungu Primary situated in the Chobe Enclave of Botswana.
The teachers looked very smart when they came out to great us and we were very happy to meet the Village Elders who came to join the proceedings. We started the day with a meeting, to understand the School’s needs better and get to know each other. The people were so friendly and after just one morning with them we felt like old friends.
Linyanti Bush Camp, which is one of the African Bush Camps properties in the Chobe Enclave area, had recently received a donation from a guest who had visited the Pack for a Purpose website and kindly brought stationary, sporting equipment and craft supplies. Wina, our Community Liaison Officer for the area and the Manager of Linyanti handed over the donation to the Head Boy of Parakarungu School. The Head Boy is also the Captain of the Soccer team, and his eyes really lit up with joy when the two Soccer Balls and ball pump came out of the box of Donations.
We then went on a tour of the School facilities and were able to see the children hard at work in their classrooms. A huge impression we got was when we entered each classroom the children all stood up and would formally greet us in English, very polite and once they were used to us being there we managed to get pictures of many happy smiles.
