The Story of Ditshiping Village
In the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Ditshiping is a remote community where people and wildlife live alongside one another. Distance can make access to essential services and opportunities challenging.
For nearly 20 years, African Bush Camps Foundation has worked alongside communities to support locally identified priorities across education, healthcare, livelihoods and conservation.
In Ditshiping, this work has grown alongside the relationship between African Bush Camps, Atzaró Okavango Camp and the community, creating opportunities that extend beyond the safari experience.
Communities lead the way
Tourism can create opportunities that extend beyond the safari experience. African Bush Camps Foundation’s approach is based on working alongside communities rather than imposing solutions.
Lasting impact starts by listening to what communities identify as important. Communities lead the way.
Ditshiping shows how investment in education, healthcare, livelihoods and conservation can strengthen a community.

From education and healthcare to livelihoods, food security and conservation, the Foundation’s work is shaped by the priorities of the communities alongside whom we work.
It is about creating the conditions for people and nature to thrive together, while building connections that can last beyond a single initiative.
Help write the next chapter
In August 2026, the Ditshiping Pre-School reopened its doors to the community’s youngest children.
The rehabilitation was made possible through a partnership between African Bush Camps Foundation and Dulini Daunara.
Together, we helped transform the pre-school into a safe and functioning learning environment, with improvements to essential infrastructure including solar power, water and electrical systems, as well as the grounds, playground and learning facilities.

The school is open. The journey continues.
The building is ready. Now, the focus is on keeping the school running and supporting the children who learn here.
Support helps provide the everyday essentials that sustain the pre-school, including daily meals, teachers and staff, and ongoing upkeep.
