This is a group of 8 ladies from the Detema, on the border of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. All of them are over 50 years old with limited to no employment opportunities, especially approaching retirement age. The project aims to empower these able women to develop skills within the garment making industry and service the surrounding schools, businesses and community with uniform and other sewed products.
Each member also supports a number of their own, as well as orphaned children in the area. The group operates from Detema Secondary School and part of their approach is to commit to passing on their skills to students interested in attending sewing classes they facilitate.
