Mambanje Chicken Project

A community chicken rearing business project to promote holistic land management and community involvement.
Zimbabwe - Hwange

This project in the Mambanje Community is a micro-finance initiative where project members are parents and carers of orphaned children at the Primary School as well as students. They run a chicken-rearing business and earn an income through sharing the profits.

They contribute a percentage of these profits back into the business and towards the school for improving infrastructure. The project stimulates local economies and encourages a sense of community involvement in holistic land management, through involving and educating students and parents alike in caring for their chicks and ensuring resources and environments are available for them.
