Transforming Learning at Mambanje Primary School

Learners at Mambanje Primary School are now benefiting from improved access to fresh meals, safe dining spaces, and clean water following the official handover of a newly refurbished kitchen, dining hall, and community garden by African Bush Camps Foundation on 1 December 2025.

The handover took place during the school’s annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day, bringing together Chief Nekatambe, Ministry of Education officials, Hwange Rural District Council representatives, and members of the wider community to celebrate the milestone.

A Long-Term Partnership with Mambanje

For nearly two decades, ABCF has worked alongside the Mambanje community to improve learning conditions, nutrition, and overall child well-being.

Over the years, the Foundation has supported a number of initiatives at the school, including classroom upgrades, teacher accommodation improvements, solar installations, borehole drilling, and the expansion of the school nutrition programme.

New Facilities Supporting Education and Nutrition

The latest upgrades introduce several new facilities designed to strengthen both the school environment and community wellbeing.

The refurbished kitchen now provides a brighter, more functional space for preparing daily meals, while refreshed classrooms and updated plaques across the school grounds contribute to an improved learning environment.

A new community garden has also been established, supported by a borehole, irrigation taps, and an external communal tap that provides clean water access for surrounding households.

A sheltered dining hall now offers learners a safe and comfortable space to enjoy their meals together.

“This dining shelter is more than just a building. It is a place that brings our school together and provides a clean and comfortable environment for our learners to enjoy their meals and build friendships.”
— Leticia Sibanda, Teacher at Mambanje Primary School

Looking Ahead

In 2026, the Foundation will continue its support for Mambanje Primary School through the provision of learning materials, school maintenance, hygiene support for girls, community engagement programmes, and two nutritious meals per day for every learner.
