African Bush Camps Foundation is proud to celebrate the successful launch of its Women in Tourism Program in Zambia, delivered in partnership with Green Safaris.
This exciting milestone marks the expansion of one of the Foundation’s flagship initiatives into a new landscape, creating opportunities for young women from neighbouring communities to develop meaningful careers in hospitality while contributing to a more inclusive tourism industry across Southern Africa.
Building on the program’s success in Zimbabwe, where 45 young women have been trained since 2023, the Zambian cohort represents the next chapter in our commitment to empowering women through education, practical experience, and long-term opportunity.
The Next Generation of Women in Tourism
Tourism has the power to do more than connect people with Africa’s extraordinary wildlife and landscapes. It can create opportunity, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute to thriving communities.
The Women in Tourism Program was established to help address the barriers many young women face when pursuing careers in the tourism and hospitality sector. Through accredited hospitality training, mentorship, and practical workplace experience, participants gain the confidence, skills, and industry exposure needed to build sustainable careers.
This year, 12 aspiring hospitality professionals have joined the program in Zambia. Over the coming months, they will complete accredited hospitality training before beginning practical lodge placements, with six participants based at Thorntree River Lodge and six at Tongabezi Lodge.
Working alongside experienced hospitality professionals, the women will gain valuable hands-on experience while learning what it takes to build successful careers within Zambia’s growing tourism industry.

The launch of the Women in Tourism Program in Zambia has been made possible through a shared commitment between African Bush Camps Foundation and Green Safaris.
