Since 2012 we have partnered with a local Bulawayo organization in Zimbabwe, called the Precious Life Foundation, which identifies vulnerable girls and women from difficult backgrounds to alleviate the orphan crisis of baby dumping.

Kanga in Mana Pools and Somalisa Camp in Hwange, offer Precious Life graduates internship places for 6-month hospitality and catering attachments where they learn the ins and outs of every department within the camp, receive a mentor within the African Bush Camps team of staff and leave with training and recommendations to set them up to become independent with future job prospects.

From 2012 to 2017 we have had 21 graduates participate in the 6 month internships and have seen some meaningful growth and relationships formed.

Now it’s time to say goodbye to our Precious ladies Pamela and Thenjiwe aka TJ. It has been an amazing 6 months with them. It is our hope that they have gained working experience that will benefit them in their future. They have made many friends and hopefully they now know the importance of being a team player.”

Tracey enjoyed the Kitchen

“During my internship, my favourite departments were Kitchen & Stores. I learned how to work in a team and how to be flexible in all departments. My favourite experience was seeing all the wildlife and getting along with my colleagues and the guests” – Tracey, 2012 Intern at Kanga Camp

Cathy has been the most outstanding student for us this year. Thank you to Chef Tsitsi and the Kitchen team for taking her on in the kitchen department. Kathy would like to be a Chef one day. She also celebrated her birthday with the team on the 3rd of December and she absolutely loved her card we made for her in camp.” – Yvonne Bahlangene, Guest Service Officer & Foundation Ambassador, 2017
